These two were so fun and so GOOD. I met up with them and their mom Amanda in Reno and we had a blast running through the leaves, climbing trees and eating apples. Kylie was so full of energy and was running and playing non-stop. Cody was a little shy at first but his interest in the camera eventually got the best of him. Thanks for inviting me to “Shangri-La” and thanks for lunch, Sid!

More here.

I love autumn. Or fall. (Which do you say? I tend to use both but apparently “autumn” is the British way while “fall” is more of a U.S. version.) Either way, either word, it’s pumpkins, crisp air, sweaters, Halloween, and leaves changing. We don’t get much of that last one in the Bay Area but Tahoe is amazing this time of year. My mom and I went on a little photo adventure and found some beautiful spots near Hope Valley.

It’s no secret – I love Swedish fish. And when my friend Anna introduced me to real Swedish fish (you know, from Sweden) well, there was no going back. Anna’s mom is here visiting and what did I get? Yes, a bunch of fisk (that Swedish for fish) and some other fun candy. I don’t know what I love more – the teeth or the egg.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session for the delightful Rachel of Decent Urban Weddings. Rachel and Ali live in Boston but are getting married in San Francisco and were in the area to celebrate their engagement.
First, let me say that I was already a fan of Rachel and was thrilled that she contacted me. Second, let me say that photographing another photographer is not without a few moments of nervousness! But as soon as I met Rachel and Ali I knew we were going to have a great time. They were up for anything and had some great ideas as well as one special request – they are getting married on Leap Day and wanted jumping & leaping photos. Rachel of course knew that those can be tricky but we got some fun shots!

These gloves were on the next bench so Rachel grabbed them and gave Ali her best right hook.

They also braved the fountains in their party clothes.

Rachel’s green dress looked amazing against these red walls.

We ended the day at their engagement party which was full of food, music and family. Thanks, Rachel and Ali!
