the photographer

Who me?  I like to take photos.   I’ve been doing it for a long time.  My mom always had a camera in hand when I was growing up and I just followed suit.  I love every aspect of the process from the geeky researching-and-picking-out-the-gear-stage to seeing a favorite photo in print for the first time (trust me, it’s not the same as looking at it on a computer screen.)  It’s a job and I take it seriously but let’s face it, it’s a pretty kick ass job.

Why weddings?  Well, weddings are incredibly special.  What other day is so full of love, beauty, emotion and big, exciting moments alongside quiet, intimate ones?  Yes, weddings are special and it’s an honor to be asked to capture those moments.

My style?  Well, if you’re here then you’ve probably already seen my photos.  I approach each wedding as a visual storyteller and the resulting images are a combination of my style – vibrant, modern, happy, and heartfelt – and your story.

I’ve said it over and over and I’ll just keep saying it – I believe that, in addition to loving the style of your chosen photographer, you should really like them as a person.  They are not only capturing your precious memories but they are going to be with you, and with your friends and family, all day on one of the most important days of your life.

What else?  I love Indian food.  And Mexican.  Oh, and Thai.  You get the idea – I love food.  Wine too.

I like writing about myself in the first person.

I like the winter rains because that means it’s snowing in the mountains.  And that means snowboarding.

I’m a compulsive list maker.  I love checking things off and will even put things on a list that I’ve already done just for a sense of accomplishment.

I prefer vanilla ice cream to chocolate.  And I really like vanilla malts.

I have been working very hard at creating a perfect Pandora station.  So far, no dice.

I have a really awesome husband and really rad daughter.  And a very sweet old dog.  Yup, I’m pretty lucky.

I like to hug trees.  Being environmentally conscious in both my personal and professional life is very important to me.  I’m doing everything I can think of to make my business green.  I do all the things you might expect and am always trying to think of new and better ways to lessen my impact on this world.  I reuse and recycle in my home office and use public transportation whenever possible. I believe in buying local and supporting small, independent businesses (like me!)  I also keep printed materials to a minimum and provide information to clients via the web or email.
