Eliza + Thomas {day after}

OK, really it was quite some time after the wedding but “quite some time after the wedding session” doesn’t have the same ring to it.  They were as gorgeous as ever…

Sharon + Steve {san francisco engagement session}

OK, OK, so it’s true that I love every engagement session that I do and it’s true that I seem to get the world’s best clients so you’ll believe me when I say that I had the best time with Sharon and Steve.  The. Best.  We laughed, we shopped, we laughed some more, we ate and we drank.  Real drinks.  OK, we might have even done a shot.  But you didn’t hear that from me.  We talked about their wedding (of course!) and they are really making it their own – let’s just say that it’s going to be simple and stylish and all about the shoes.

We started off at the Ferry Building, hit up Blue Bottle, then Miette and then Sur La Table where Sharon scored the cutest yellow honey pot ever.  Her honey bought it for her.  So sweet.  (Am I taking this too far?)  Then it was off to Chinatown… I think the best thing I can do is let the photos do the talking.

Devra + Brian {san francisco engagement session}

I always suggest doing engagement sessions before the wedding because not only do you get some awesome and casual couples portraits but you get to know your wedding photographer.  You know, the person who will be trailing you all day, who is likely to see you in your underwear and who will be interacting with your family and friends?  Whom you are trusting to preserve some of your most important memories?  Yeah, that person. (I’m a little uncertain about my “who” and “whom” use in those sentences.  Anyone?  Megan?)

So Devra and Brian live in NYC but Devra is from the Bay Area and they are getting married in Napa in August.  We had only spoken on the phone and exchanged emails so it was really nice to get to meet them in person before the big day (see above).  We wandered around getting some city shots and then headed toward the Golden Gate Bridge for some more casual photos.  They were really, really fun and not unlike superheros – leaping tall buildings in a single bound!  Without futher ado…

Melinda + Russ {san francisco engagement session}

Locals will remember the heat wave we experienced in San Francisco last week.  Even my friends who were here visiting from Texas were complaining that it was too hot!  So I more than half expected it to be very warm when I met up with Melinda and Russ in Golden Gate Park for their session.  Alas, this is San Francisco and hot it was not.  More like cool, windy and foggy.  They brought along their entourage which included sweet Macayla so we started things off by including her in some photos.

There was a lot of laughter along the way and some no holds barred kissing so I’m pretty sure their December wedding at the Los Gatos Opera House is going to be really special.

Megan + Brian {sacramento engagement session}

I don’t even have words for this one.  I could do about 3 more posts of all of my favorite photos.  Megan and Brian were up for anything, the light was amazing and the locations were dreamy.  Go Sacramento!  I can’t wait for this wedding because I know how much love and attention is going into every detail.  (Side note: Megan, you must let me know what your birthday surprise is!)

Lisa + Chris {san francisco engagement session}

Lisa and Chris braved the 40 mph winds on Sunday and met me at Sutro Heights Park.  They brought along their dog, Little Ricky, and we managed to find a few spots that were relatively sheltered from the wind.

Next we headed over to Sutro Baths – lovely location but the wind was brutal.  Lisa and Chris remained upbeat despite the fact that it was freezing and they made looking good in the cold and wind look easy.  I mean, look at them – wow.  We finished off the day at the Cliff House – we had lost most of the sun but we managed to get in a few quick shots.

Thanks for being such troopers, you two!  I can’t wait for your wedding!

Dusti + Tony {lake tahoe engagement session}

I spent the weekend in Tahoe with friends.  Friends who just got betrothed.  (Yes, I just used a silly, old-fashioned word.  In fact, the dictionary tells me it dates to 1588.)  So I insisted that they let me take some engagement photos.  We started the day on the slopes and, though I was initially a little nervous about snowboarding with my camera, no lenses or bodies (camera or human) were harmed in the making of these photos.  We re-enacted the proposal (Tony proposed on the lift) and tried to make snow angels (snow was too hard) and then rewarded ourselves with a Bloody Mary (very tasty).  We headed home for a quick clothing change and then into South Lake Tahoe where we found some big rocks, a dock, a very cool wooden building and a big green door.  We had big plans to head to the casinos but the lure of food and a cold beer won out in the end.

Dusti and Tony are getting married in Breckenridge, Colorado in December and I’ll be there as a guest, not a photographer but I might still snap a photo or two.  Maybe.

Iris + Masa {san francisco engagement session}

Iris and Masa are getting married in a couple of weeks so time was really of the essence for their engagement session.  They are, in Iris’ own words, “forest people” so Muir Woods was the perfect place to start.  We met late in day so it was already pretty dark in the woods but it was lovely and earthy and green.  What a great job I have – I get to walk around one of my favorite places with fun people and take photos!  After Muir Woods we took a short walk on the Golden Gate Bridge – it was refreshing to take photos on the bridge instead of OF the bridge – good idea, Iris!
